“Bee and Puppycat” Reanimated Collaboration
Animated shot for a community-run non-profit multi-animator project reanimating the original “Bee and Puppycat” first episode.
Animated in Adobe Animate, with compositing in After Effects; October 9th, 2021; posted to Kartostrophic’s YouTube Channel.
Here's the original shot from the episode I was going to reanimate.
I wanted the big fish face of the Wallace character to be central to my shot. Even at the animatic stage I wanted the rough animation to see how the action would effect the other characters, especially Puppycat on top.
Animating that bell was probably both the most frustrating and most rewarding experiences of my animation work up to this point.
Final lines and colors stage.
I want to say that this was the first time I started trying to do my own compositing in Adobe After Effects after realizing it wasn't as hard to get into as I thought. It's kinda crazy how much even just a few blurs and gradients for shadows make things pop here.
Here's a single frame going through each of the stages to show the progression.
For the end credits of the project, the community decided to have each animator make a Puppycat version of themselves in their own style. This was mine. I drew this in Clip Studio Paint.
