MÔS EP Cover Art Commission
Commissioned by the band MÔS to make a cover image for their self-titled EP. Using their song “Trees Are Burning” as inspiration, I created this piece of a tree on fire.

This was the worst thing ever when it happened, but a part of me is glad it happened. Redoing the piece from scratch gave me a chance to review my process and make it a little bit better. It also taught me to be very careful with where I put ink bottles.
Finished ink-lines, ready for color. Used a combination of pens and brushes for inking to both get some scratchy brush texture but also to cover larger areas with ink.
Color and inks with masking fluid removed, ready to be scanned and touched-up digitally for final usage.
And then the final! Some coloring was added in post to help the letters at the bottom fit with the rest of the coloring, and thin lines were added to the flames on the sides to give them some texture.
